Louisville is the #1 City for Affordable Vacations

Louisville has just been named the top city for those looking for an affordable vacation! Livability named the Derby city due to it's rich history, modern culture, free attractions and deep discounts, making it a prime vacation destination for families!
Even for those that live in Louisville, some of the attractions might surprise you! The one that won't surprise locals is taking a historic walking tour of Churchill Downs. Similarly, at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, there are museum and factory tours starting everyday at 9 a.m. and kids under five get in for free!
Another attraction that a lot of Louisvillians look over but that is right in our backyard is The Speed Art Museum. The Speed is Kentucky's oldest and largest art museum with more than 12,000 pieces in its permanent collection. The Louisville Zoo also made the list for the package discounts they offer. Packages include zoo admission, a 4-D theatre ticket, unlimited carousel rides, a zoo tram shuttle and admission to he Dinosaurs exhibit.

The Dance Theatre of Harlem

The Dance Theatre of Harlem is back and is starting their new tour at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts! After eight years off the road, the legendary group has picked the Possibility City for the opening night of the tour, Saturday, Oct. 20th.
The Dance Theatre of Harlem was founded in 1969 following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and was inspired by "the power of art to transform". The initial goal of the founders, Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook,  was to start a school to teach children, especially those in Harlem, about dance and the arts. The company began with African-American dancers that were excluded from other troupes because of their skin color.
With the slogan, "Using the Arts to Ignite the Mind", the show will roll into the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts this coming Saturday with tickets starting at $22.50. The show is appropriate for all ages and DTH will invite local children to join them onstage during the program!
