Screening of "The Silent World" at The Clifton Center

The Wild and Wolly Film Series continues at The Clifton Center on Sunday, March 17th at 7:00 p.m. The Silent World, an Academy Award-winning film from 1956 by Jacque Cousteau, will be shown along side a special presentation by New Albany resident Bob Braunbeck. Braunbeck was the Director of Aerial Photography and Cousteau's helicopter pilot from 1975-1990.


Le Monde Du Silence (The Silent World) is a French Documentary that won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 1956 and is noted as one of the first films to use underwater cinematography. Shot aboard the ship Calypso, Cousteau and his team of divers shot 25 kilometers of film over two years in the Mediterranean Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
