2013 Louisville Jewish Film Festival

The 2013 Jewish Film Festival of Louisville kicks off this Saturday, February 9th, at Village 8 Theatre. This is the 15th year for the festival and it continues to show the richness and diversity of the Jewish experience by presenting the best contemporary international films.

Film types range from shorts and documentaries to student films, as well as conversations with guest speakers. The festival explores Jewish identity with the hope of increasing tolerance and educating it's audiences. Some films shown in the past have even gone on to be nominated for Academy Awards and remade into Hollywood films! The first film to be shown this year is named, "My Best Enemy", and is a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller featuring two friends in Nazi occupied Europe.

Gunther von Hagens' Body Worlds Vital

There is a new exhibit at the Kentucky Science Center named Body Worlds Vital and it is the latest chapter in the series of Body Worlds Human Saga exhibits. Beginning on January 20th, the Vital series will run through May 19th.

This exhibit is a collection of specimens designed to show guests the essentials for human health and wellness. The exhibit included whole-body plastinates, a large arrangement of individual organs, organ and arterial configurations and translucent slices that give a complete picture of how the human body is designed and works!

The exhibit also tells the story of how to best fight, manage and prevent life-threatening diseases - such as cancer, diabetes, and heart ailments - through healthy choices and lifestyle changes! The series is designed to educate the public about the human body and increase health awareness.

The Louisville Boat, RV and Sportshow

The Louisville Boat, RV and Sportshow is celebrating it's 56th year as the mid-South's premier outdoors show! Taking place at the Kentucky Exposition Center, this 5 day event is a one-stop marketplace for outdoor lovers!

Event-goers can check out boats of all shapes and sizes, as well as the latest models of RVs and booths showcasing the latest in boating, fishing, hunting and camping gear! There are also several special attractions that make this a fun event for the whole family!

Although the show began on Wednesday, January 23rd, it runs through the weekend with Saturday hours being 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday being 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Februrary 22nd begins 502 Restaurant Week in Louisville and it is sure to be Louisville's most anticipated foodie event! The event's mission is to give diners an incredible meal for a great value at leading area restaurants - and by the looks of which restaurants are participating, this event is destined to be just that!

The way it works is diners pay $50.20 per couple or $50.20 per person, depending on the restaurant, for an incredible 3-course meal at popular Louisville restaurants. 2013 Mardi Gras Gala at the Mellwood Arts Center

Mardi Gras is right around the corner and the Cerebral Palsy School of Louisville is hosting their 2013 Mardi Gras Gala! The Gala will be held at the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center and will feature music by Thumper and the Plaid Rabbits!

There are two types of tickets available this year and proceeds goes towards the Mattingly Center for adults with disabilities. Iris DeMent To Perform at the Clifton Center

Iris DeMent, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, will perform at The Clifton Center on Thursday, February 7th at 7:30 p.m. This show is part of the "MINI of Louisville LIVE at the Clifton Center" series and will be held in the Eifler Theatre. Individual tickets are $25 in advance, $23 for seniors, $28 day of show, or $22.50 for Friends of the Clifton Center.

DeMent's latest album, Sing The Delta, is the first album released in sixteen years by the artist. The album presents twelve self-penned compositions from an artist whose first three albums established her as one of the most beloved and respected writers and singers in American music.
